Make Money With beehiiv: Run Newsletters for Clients

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes a score. How this works.

The most realistic way to make money with beehiiv is to set up and run email newsletters for small businesses on their own beehiiv accounts. Fiverr’s email marketing cost guide (dated 3 August 2026, checked 24 October 2026) puts weekly newsletter management at $200 to $400 a month for execution only and $600 to $1,200 a month with copywriting included. That is client service work, paid by the hour or the month. A newsletter of your own can earn too, from sponsors or a paid tier, but it takes far longer and nothing on this page is a promise of income.

Which beehiiv money methods are worth your time?

Client work pays soonest; your own newsletter pays latest. Here is how the four realistic options compare:

What does a newsletter client actually pay for?

A finished issue in the inbox every week, without the owner touching it. Most small businesses with a customer list (a café, a clinic, an accountant, a local shop) know they should email it and don’t. You sell the habit. On beehiiv that usually means four things: a branded template, a sign-up form on their website, a welcome email or short automation for new subscribers, and a weekly issue you draft, they approve and you schedule.

Run it on the client’s account, not yours. They own the list and the billing, you get added as a team member, and if the work ends nobody has to migrate anything. Lite allows two seats and Pro ten, so check the client’s plan has room for you. Welcome automations sit on Lite and above, which matters when you quote.

How do you deliver it, step by step?

  • Discovery call: agree the audience, the one thing each issue should do (bookings, visits, repeat orders) and who approves drafts.
  • Setup: the client creates the beehiiv account and adds you. You import their existing list only where they can show people agreed to hear from them, build the template and form, and write the welcome email.
  • Weekly cycle: draft on Monday, client approval by Wednesday, scheduled send on Thursday. beehiiv Agent on Lite can help with subject lines and intros; you still edit every line.
  • Monthly report: opens, clicks, new subscribers and one change you’ll test next month.
  • Paperwork: a one-page agreement covering price, approval turnaround, who owns the list (the client) and who is responsible for legal compliance (both of you, see below).

Where do you find the first clients?

Start with businesses that already collect emails and do nothing with them. Look for a newsletter sign-up box on a local business website and subscribe; if nothing arrives in a month, that is your lead. Offer a fixed-price first month rather than a free sample. Fiverr has 1,994 beehiiv services listed, with visible gigs starting at $15 to $30, so competing on price there is a race you won’t enjoy; use it to see how others package the work, then sell locally or through people you already know.

A worked month with three clients

Two clients on full service at $600 a month each (weekly issue, copywriting included) and one on execution only at $250 a month (they write, you build and send). Ongoing revenue: $1,450 a month.

Time, at my own estimates of 3 hours per full-service issue and 1 hour per execution-only issue, four issues a month each: 28 hours. That is about $51.79 an hour.

The first month adds a $150 setup fee per client (inside Fiverr’s $130 to $200 range for a basic welcome automation) and roughly 3 hours each: $1,900 for 37 hours, about $51.35 an hour. Each client pays its own beehiiv plan, so your beehiiv cost is $0. These are examples, not income figures.

Can you earn from the beehiiv Partner Program?

Yes, if people already ask you which newsletter tool to use. beehiiv’s help article (updated 18 March 2026) says partners earn 50% of the revenue a referral brings in for 12 months, with a 60-day cookie and a cap of $15,000 per referral. Signing up happens inside your beehiiv account and is listed as open on all plans. One referral paying for Lite at the 1,000-subscriber tier yearly ($49 a month) would earn $294 over the year; a referral on monthly Lite at 10,000 subscribers would earn $834. The article doesn’t state payout methods, minimums or ad restrictions, so read the partner terms before you promote it. Disclose the link wherever it appears.

What about starting your own newsletter?

It can work, but plan in years, not weeks. Ad monetisation and paid subscriptions need Lite or Pro, and beehiiv’s pricing page shows an “Avg. $39/mo” beside ad monetisation on Lite without saying how that average is calculated. Paid recommendations pay per verified subscriber you send to another newsletter, at a rate each offer sets. Running your own list does make you better at the client work, which is the best reason to start one on the free plan.

Which rules apply to newsletter work?

US email law applies to every commercial issue you send, and you can’t hand that duty off. The FTC’s CAN-SPAM guide requires a valid physical postal address, a working opt-out honoured within 10 business days, and subject lines that match the content. Penalties reach $53,088 per violating email, and the FTC says both the company promoted and the one sending can be held liable.

  • Sponsored placements and affiliate links: the FTC’s endorsement guidance asks for clear disclosures close to the recommendation, such as “I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.” A hyperlinked “disclosure” is not enough.
  • Reviews and testimonials: the FTC’s 2024 rule bans buying, writing or spreading fake reviews, including AI-generated ones. Never write customer quotes for a client’s issue.
  • Imported lists: only upload people who signed up. Bought lists bring spam complaints, and complaints put the client’s sending reputation at risk.
  • Account risk: beehiiv’s Terms let it suspend accounts, and Trustpilot reviews describe lock-outs, so keep exports of the client’s list.

Is this a good fit for you?

Signs it fits, signs it won’t

It fits if you write clean, short copy, can keep a weekly deadline for months and like talking to local business owners.

It won’t fit if you want income without clients, dislike chasing approvals, or hope beehiiv’s ad network will pay the bills on a small list.

Questions about earning with beehiiv

Can you make money with beehiiv?

Yes, most realistically by running newsletters for small businesses. Fiverr’s cost guide puts weekly newsletter management at $200 to $1,200 a month depending on whether copywriting is included.

Does beehiiv pay you?

Yes, through its Partner Program, ad network and paid recommendations. Partners earn 50% of referred revenue for 12 months, while ad and recommendation earnings depend on your list and the offers you accept.

How much should I charge to manage a beehiiv newsletter?

Roughly $200 to $400 a month for execution only and $600 to $1,200 a month with copywriting, for a weekly issue, according to Fiverr’s August 2026 cost guide.

Do I need a paid beehiiv plan to do client work?

No. The client should hold the account and pay for it, and you join as a team member; Lite allows two seats and Pro ten.

Do sponsored newsletter posts need a disclosure?

Yes. The FTC expects clear disclosure of paid relationships and affiliate links close to the recommendation, and CAN-SPAM requires commercial emails to identify themselves as advertising.

These are examples, not income claims. Your results depend on your skills, your market and the time you put in. This page is general information, not legal advice; check the rules where you and your clients work.
